About This Manuscript

Papyrus 46 (P46) is one of the oldest and most significant surviving biblical manuscripts of Paul's epistles. Dating to the late second or early third century AD, this Greek papyrus codex preserves extensive portions of Romans, Corinthians, Hebrews, and other Pauline letters. This museum-quality P46 replica features the close of the Body of Christ passage — 1 Corinthians 12:24–13:1 — on the recto, ending with Paul's famous words "I will show you a still more excellent way." Turn the leaf over and the verso carries 1 Corinthians 13:2–11, the Love Chapter itself: "Love is patient, love is kind... Love never fails." This is the earliest surviving copy of the most beloved chapter Paul ever wrote — the words read at weddings for generations, preserved here as they appeared around AD 200. An exceptional Christian gift for weddings, anniversaries, pastors, and collectors of early New Testament manuscripts.

Textual Significance

P46 is a cornerstone of Pauline textual criticism, and this leaf carries a famous reading: in 1 Corinthians 13:3, P46 is the earliest witness for "that I may boast" (ÎșÎ±Ï…Ï‡ÎźÏƒÏ‰ÎŒÎ±Îč) — the reading followed by modern critical editions of the Greek New Testament, including the NA28 and UBS5. Holding this leaf means holding the manuscript evidence behind the very wording of your Bible. For students of biblical apologetics, P46 provides powerful evidence for the early and widespread use of Paul's writings as authoritative Christian Scripture.

About This Replica
