The Ascension of Christ and "In the beginning was the Word" on the same ancient leaf, on real Egyptian papyrus.

About This Manuscript

Papyrus 75 (P75), also known as Bodmer Papyrus XIV-XV, is one of the earliest and most significant surviving manuscripts of the Gospels of Luke and John, commonly dated to c. AD 175-225. This museum-quality P75 replica, part of the Wes Huff Collection, features one of the most theologically remarkable leaf transitions in all of ancient manuscript history: the recto preserves the conclusion of Luke's Gospel (Luke 24:51-53, the Ascension) alongside the opening of John's Prologue (John 1:1-16), while the verso continues with John 1:16-33. The Ascension of Christ in Luke and "In the beginning was the Word" in John, side by side on a single ancient papyrus leaf.

Textual Significance

P75 is one of the most important early witnesses to both Luke and John and is especially significant for the study of the Lukan and Johannine text traditions. Its early date and remarkable preservation make it a foundational reference in New Testament textual criticism. The transition directly from Luke to John on a single leaf provides rare physical evidence of how the early Church organized its Gospel texts, long before the New Testament canon was formally defined.

About This Replica

This museum-quality Wes Huff Collection papyrus replica is produced through an intensive, multi-week hand-crafted replication process on real Egyptian papyrus. Careful attention is given to manuscript scale, Greek letterforms, line spacing, layout, and overall visual character, resulting in a reproduction that closely reflects the appearance of the original ancient codex leaf.
